I go this off eBay, but long before the prices
went berserk on old RC10's. It was MIB and was shrink wrapped,
but I had to open it and build it! |
Associated RC10 Graphite |

These are pics of the very first RC car
I ever bought, way back in 1989. I scanned these pics. The
original pictures were taken in roughly 1991. To see the very
first RC10 Graphite ever made, click

I found this kit at a hobby shop. It was
in new condition, and in a perfect box, but parts had been
robbed from it. I got it cheap and put era correct hop up
parts in lieu of the original parts. I later outfitted it
with era correct electronics. |

Car |

Another hobby shop find. It was MIB. I didn't
get it terribly cheap, however. About what you would have
paid for it when it was new. Obviously, I built this one as
well. And put some electronics in it since my old electronics
stuff is just sitting around anyways. I almost never sell
or throw anything away.
The funky scanned pic is the Worlds Car I used to race back
when this car was in production. My painting skills hadn't
got much better over the years, as you can see. |

I have two of these. One I got off eBay from
a guy who had built it way back in the day and then never
ran it. He had painted/stickered the body. It was in really
good shape, but all the screws were rusty and it was assembled
incorrectly in some minor ways. So, I went through it and
made it just about perfect. The second kit was given to me
by a good friend who spied one at a hobby shop. It was MIB,
so I decided to actually run the first one on a track, just
to see how it ran. You can find the video of it here
on my video page. |
Losi XX |
| |
The top two pics are from the first XX I
bought, when they first came out. Terrible scanned pics again.
This kit was pretty revolutionary, although I could never
get it to work for me on the track. I later somehow ended
up with enough parts to make one without a kit. That one is
shown in the bottom pic. |
Losi XXT |

I think I've had three of these over the
years. The right two pics are from long ago, and were scanned.
You can see the dates on many of these pics. The left two
show an XXT I still have. It was assembled from parts. I have
so many parts. It is kinda scary. |
MRC Desert Thunder |

I had originally bought this off eBay, from
Bob Stormer by chance (owner of Stormer Hobbies). Only, when
I bought it, it was the truck version (Thunder King?). It
was used, but I had always been curious about these huge things,
so I bought it to run. And run it I did. I put my Aveox brushless
in it and beat the crap out of it. Later, I emailed Bob to
see if he had parts for it. He happened to have the buggy
version, but the box was open and he was not sure what was
missing. So I bought it from him for a great price and rebuilt
it as the buggy you see here. They were pretty much identical.
Tires, body and body mounts are all the differed. It hasn't
been run since the rebuild. The top left pic show how big
they are. Huge! |
Kyosho Triumph |
| |
I raced one of these way back. I got it new,
but second hand from a guy who seemed to enjoy building kits
and not ever playing with them. Strange, but I bought a bunch
of stuff from him, so he was a good friend :)
The differentials sucks bad. So I put a stealth tranny in
it and it did pretty good. I eventually tired of having to
mail order parts for it so I gave up on it. Later I found
a MIB kit on eBay from a guy in Australia. I built it and
it is a shelf queen. |
Associated RC10 GT |

I still have the original RC10 GT that I
bought back in the mid 90's. Well, some of it anyways. It
has been upgraded so many times, I am not sure what is left.
I actually bought another one at some point, so I can't be
too certain. All these pics suck bad, but I had them, so here
they are.
The left pics show the truck in street trim. A damn fine street
basher, I might add. The left pics are after the very, very
nice A Main kit. It was given to me, so I don;t know much
more than the name, "A Main". |
