Associated RC10 Graphite
The first update to original. Had longer front arms,
longer front shocks, improved front end geometry, graphite
chassis, a sleeker body, and no electronics included. My kit
had bearings.
Tamiya Fox
I have no idea why I bought this sappy car at a garage sale.
I later gave it away (it was 20 bucks w/ an ESC).
Associated RC10 Team Car (AKA
Stealth Car)
This version of the RC10 was much improved for two main reasons:
Stealth tranny and hard coated shocks. The Stealth tranny
was the first 3 gear design from a kit builder. MIP had one
quite a while back, but it was spendy and did not come with
any kits.
Traxxas Villain IV (x3)
This is an RC boat. I owned 3 of these things. An interesting
boat due to its dual motor, dual counter-rotating prop design.
Very upgradeable.
Kyosho Lazer ZX
I wanted a 4 wheel drive car bad. The Lazer had lots of great
features, but the differentials sucked so bad that I traded
it for my first gas truck ...
Kyosho Rampage
This was my first venture into nitro powered RC cars. I had
a ton of fun with this truck, but it was not raceworthy. It
just did not handle well on a track. Great back yard car though
:) I modified it over the years, but it still handled like
crap.
Kyosho Triumph
This car had similar diff problems as the above Lazer, but
not quite as bad. It handled very well. I even won the major
local race with it. It had some revolutionary features like
extremely long arms, easily adjustable rear toe in, belt tranny,
adjustable front kick up and more. I like this kit a lot because
it was quite rare to see one on the track.
Team Losi Double X
This was one of the first race bred cars to use a plastic
(ahem, "composite") chassis . The design was very
refined and was easier to work on than almost everything in
its time.
Associated RC10 GT
The first serious gas truck. It is one of the best handling
kits "out of the box" that I have owned. In mid
2006, it was finally replaced by the GT2, after almost 15
years. This is typical of Associated. Design them right the
first time.
Team Losi Double XT (x2)
This kit is very similar to the Double X. It is just in the
truck flavor. Longer shocks, arms, chassis, and taller gearing
in the tranny make the main differences. I've had 2 of these
throughout the years.
Associated RC10 Worlds Car
The final version of the original RC10 design. The RC10 Worlds
Car was the first Associated kit to come with black plastic
parts. One of my favorites.
Associated RC10B2
The next generation of RC10 from Associated, and the first
to use a composite chassis. It shared very few parts with
the original RC10.
Associated RC12LS
This is an on road car, 12 scale style. I tinkered with on
road for a winter, and liked it a lot, but could not get over
the stench of traction compound ... These cars are crazy fast
and nimble. The class is one of the oldest.
Kyosho Kart .10
An 1/8 scale racing style go cart (but about the same size
as 1/10 scale cars because even the full-size Karts are small).
It was powered by an OS .10 nitro engine. I had quite a blast
with this one.
Team Losi XX4
Losi's first 4WD car. Quite revolutionary with its totally
sealed belt drive train and plush suspension. This is perhaps
my favorite car to drive. You can drive it like you stole
it and be fast. Maintenance is quite a chore, however.
Associated RC10 B3
An evolutionary step from the RC10 B2. It had no parts from
the original RC10 and was mostly just an updated RC10 B2.
Gone completely are the steering blocks that have been a part
of the RC10 line since '84.
MRC Thunder King
I bought this used. I always wanted one, but never got around
to it. It is huge. MRC calls it "World Scale".
Team Losi XX4 WE
An update to the Losi XX4. It came with almost all the hop-up
parts you could buy for an XX4, so a pretty good value.
Associated RC10 (original 6010
kit)
The original. Purchased for nostalgia.
Associated RC10 Team Car (6025
kit)
I think called the "Team Car", this was the first
car to offer the Stealth transmission. Also purchased for
nostalgia.
Losi JRXT
This is the very first race oriented RC truck made. It has
the very interesting 5 link rear suspension. Yep, nostalgia.
Kyosho Triumph
Yes, I bought another one. This was mint in box. I built it,
but will never run it.
Associated
TC3
The first touring car from AE. I bought this used, in great
condition, from a local friend RC'er. This is an amazing car.
Excellent engineering and handling.
Associated RC10 Graphite
- The very first one ever made!
I scored this one on eBay.
Tamiya TXT-1
This is the newest monster truck from Tamiya. More realistic
than the Clodbuster and better than the Juggernaught. I have
hacked this kit to death and it is a mildly capable rock crawler
now.
Mini-Z
I have bought 3 of these. They are fun as hell. Tower Hobbies
had the VW Beetles on sale for $90 last year and I bought
two. That was after I got hooked on a very early Subuaru.
Associated NTC3
I traded a good friend a vintage RC10 kit for a virtually
brand new NTC3 with an engine. This thing is a work of art!
Traxxas E-MAXX
The electric version of the T-Maxx. Got it used. I
didn't play with it much.
Xpress Mini-X
Basically a slightly larger Mini-Z with 4WD and 1/10 the quality.
Tons of fun for the few times I have run it, however.
Traxxas T-MAXX
I got this used from the same friend as I got the E-MAXX.
I spent some time refurbishing it. It bashed pretty well.
Losi Rally Weapon
Hey, it was cheap on eBay. Had some cool parts in there. I
never built it, but I did use it's parts for some of my
projects.
Xray M18
An 18th scale 4WD on-road car. Extreme quality and precision
on this kit.
Associated
RC18T
An 18th scale 4wd off-road truck that is crazy fun. I put
a Mamba brushless in it and it FLIES.
Traxxas Revo 3.3
Bought it new about a year ago. Don't ever drive it, but it
sure if cool.
Losi XXXT MF2
The latest incarnation of the Losi eletric trucks with lots
of X's
Hirobo
Lama XRB
This is a mini helicopter with two sets of blades (no tail
rotor). They are easy to fly (for a helicopter) and it has
been really fun.
E-Flite
Blade CX2
Another coaxial mini helicopter. Not as refined as the Lama
XRB, above, but quite a bit more acrobatic and aggressive.
Various
strange projects
You gotta check these out!
Somewhere in there I acquired a Losi JRX Pro SE doing some sort of horse trading. It was totally loaded,
but the XX was out at that time, so I never drove it much. |
